Metrix hat das Problem eingesehen und handelt. Die Device-ID wird nun verschlüsselt. Auch Patch-Guru Jason Robitaille hat gehandelt und einen Patch gebastelt, der Metrix im Pre abschaltet. Allerding scheint er nicht öffentlich zu sein. @webosroundup hat wohl auch auf drängen von Jason gehandelt, wenn man sich die Tweets so anschaut.

Trotzdem werde ich im Laufe der Woche Updates ohne Metrix an Palm übertragen.

Metrix Maintenance: 6/23 at 10pm Eastern
Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that we are going to be taking the site down for maintenance on 6/23 at 10pm eastern.

The goal of this maintenance is to increase the privacy of Metrix. On June 22nd we released our privacy policy. We got some great feedback on how we can improve data collection and keep user information private.

Right now we use each person's device ID as a way to prevent duplicates. We never really use the information, but just collecting it makes people nervous. So, to put everyone at ease we are going to convert or "hash" the device IDs so that they are completely blind to us but still allow us to protect against duplicate data.

We have the code in place, but to get it completely ready we have to convert all the data we currently have stored. This will take a while and to do it we will have to take the site down.

The good news is that you will not lose any data during this process. Data collection will still occur behind the scenes. When the site comes back up the system will process all the collected data so you won't lose any of your analytics.

We anticipate this maintenance to take less than four hours. If something comes up, keep an eye on @webosroundup and @syntactix on twitter.

Nur mal zur Info:

Ich habe die App-Profile bei Metrix schon gelöscht! Anfragen von den noch nicht upgedateten Apps gehen zwar noch an Metrix raus, sollten aber (hoffentlich) ins Leere laufen! Updates kommen so bald wie möglich!

Einen Patch, um Metrix ins Leere laufen zu lassen, hab' ich angehängt. Endung ".txt" entfernen und mit Quick Install installieren.
